ASSEMBLY AND TEST TECHNICIAN
BASED LIVINGSTON – SALARY EXCELLENT TO £35,000 PLUS BENS

Based in Livingston, ESS Recruit’s client comprises of a group of European companies engaged in the design, development, manufacture and distribution of analytical systems, life science equipment and laboratory instruments with operations dating a number of years.  They design, develop, supply and support Gas Chromatography (GC) and Mass Spectrometry (MS) product lines for a range of markets including forensics, food quality, environmental, pharma and life sciences.  The company maintains a global infrastructure to support sales around the world.  Manufacturing is in both The Netherlands and Livingston and the R&D department is based in Livingston.
  
Reporting into the Production Team Lead, the Assembly and Test Technician role is a key part of their ambitious plans for UK production and manufacturing, in this role you will have a varied workload.  As an Assembly and Test Technician you will be responsible for the assembly, configuration and test of their high performance MS and Liquid chromatography (LC) assemblies at the new production facility in Livingston.
  
Responsibilities:

• Producing completed and tested MS assemblies and LC systems to a defined production schedule working within a clean room environment. Day shift only.
• Building up kitting packs from internal stores to defined Bill of Materials
• Electro-mechanical assembly of modules and completed assemblies working to pre-defined detailed technical work instructions within a cleanroom and ESD safe environment.
• Installation of wiring harnesses and use of manual hand tools and manual measurement equipment- callipers, dial gauges, micrometres etc.
• Conducting functional quality tests using provided test rigs which could include electrical continuity tests, electrical hi-pot tests, mechanical integrity and vacuum and pressure/leak tests
• Recording test results in prepared inspection documentation
• Identify any non-compliant products/test results and take the necessary corrective actions
• Assisting in re-work activities as determined by the production lead or wider R&D team, such as soldering/crimping of wire connections, using mechanical hand tools and visual inspections using magnifying equipment or manual measurement equipment  

The successful candidate should have experience of working to electro-mechanical work instructions to build, assemble or test complex electro-mechanical products and will also have experience with reading and interpreting technical specifications or drawings and of working in an ISO 9001 certified manufacturing environment.  Although not essential, experience of working in cleanroom and ESD safe environments and the associated good working practices an advantage.  Working knowledge of Office 365, Outlook, Word, Excel and TEAMS and knowledge/experience of liquid sample preparation also good to have.
