HEALTH SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE MANAGER
BASED DUNFERMLINE, FIFE
SALARY £40-50,000 PLUS BENEFITS
Based in Fife, ESS’ client is amongst the UK’s largest producers of PVCu window and door products for the domestic replacement, commercial and new build sectors. They are a household name, and a manufacturer of high-end bespoke products. The business already operates to a modern ISO quality management system, where Health and Safety is built in and driven across sites and departments. However, there is still a need to recruit a modern Health and Safety Manager with a strong company compliance background.
Reporting into the Leadership Team, the Health Safety and Compliance Manager will ensure that operational, environmental and health and safety procedures are relevant, up-to-date and complied with. The role will have significant involvement with the leadership team and impact across all areas of this diverse business. You will play a steering and mentoring role working across all departments, facilities, manufacturing and installation teams in the field, driving a home safe every day culture. We are looking for a proven Health and Safety Manager / HSE Manager or Compliance Manager. Candidates will have recognised HSE qualifications including NEBOSH or IOSH. Ideally you will have a good mix of industry experience. We would be especially keen to hear from candidates who have worked across construction trades health and safety, or driven HSE on sites. We will also look at candidates coming from traditional engineering and manufacturing backgrounds or perhaps the military. In all cases, you will need the confidence to challenge people at all levels internally but do so in a way that promotes a change in HSE culture and behaviour.

- Carry out a gap analysis of existing operational, environmental and health and safety procedures, identifying areas where new procedures are required. Develop identified procedures.
- Implement new and updated operational, environmental and health and safety procedures, ensuring that all personnel are trained and fully understand the procedure.
- Review existing method statements and risk assessments in line with current legislation, updating as required and implementing to the workforce.
- Stay up-to-date with both health and safety, and environmental regulations to ensure that the company complies with changes in legislation.
- Update the management team on changes to legislation that affect the business. Develop and implement new procedures to ensure that we are compliant with these changes.
- Carry out daily internal audits in the form of installation site inspections to ensure that procedures are being adhered to.
- Take the necessary action to resolve any non-conformances recorded during site inspections, identifying any trends relating to both procedures and personnel.
- Carry out environmental audits to ensure compliance with both environmental legislation and company procedures.
- Develop an annual training plan to ensure that all operational, environmental and health and safety training is delivered to the workforce. Monitor the training to ensure that it is received by all staff.
