INSTRUMENTATION DEVELOPMENT SCIENTIST

ESS’ client is based in Livingston. Well established, they are a high technology equipment supplier into a range of sectors; including, medical devices, electronics, semiconductors and industrial manufacturing. Currently enjoying a period of high growth and demand world wide, they need to make the key hire of a Instrumentation Development Scientist.
The Instrumentation Development Scientist supports the Project Manager and conducts instrumentational development tasks for new products, bespoke customer requests and sustainability and product improvements. Responsibilities also include supporting the Project Manager in the generation and maintenance of technical documentation. The Instrumentation Development Scientist works in a team with mechanical, optical, electrical and software engineers and will communicate to other teams such as marketing, applications, sales, operations, and production, as required. The ability to present ideas and information accurately in a clear and concise manner is important.

Responsibilities:
- Performance testing of existing products, prototype instrumentation assemblies and test rigs.
- Processing data and writing technical reports.
- Fulfilling the role of the product end user and providing associated feedback.
- Degree or higher in a physical sciences discipline, with a strong analytical focus or relevant work experience.
- Experience and understanding of the practical use, and theoretical principles of optical spectroscopic equipment including; UV-Visible Spectrophotometers, Fluorescence Spectrophotometers and Microplate Spectrophotometers.
- Possess good, broad, practical experience of handling and operating scientific instrumentation, and working in scientific laboratories.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
