PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER (MEDICAL DEVICES)

Based in Stirling, ESS Recruits clients’ medical technology products are used worldwide in providing innovative new healthcare technologies, using the delivery of microwave energy to support the treatment of conditions within cardiology and oncology. The business is a global leader specialising in the development and manufacture of compact medical microwave generator systems for both own product and OEM customers. This is a dynamic and forward-looking company with continual R&D investment into cutting edge immune-modulating microwave medical treatments. As part of concentrated ramp in production, people and new products, the business now needs to make the key hire of a Product Development Engineer.
Reporting into the Engineering Manager, the Product Development Engineer role is perfect for an innovative, hands-on self-starter who would like to work as part of a driven and supportive team which designs and manufactures novel medical devices. The role will support both NPD of existing technologies and NPI for new products and will really appeal to an individual who enjoys working across the full product lifecycle. Key responsibilities include:
- Design, develop and qualification of new medical device products in accordance with the Company's design control procedures and quality
- Define and conduct verification and validation
- Employ best practice techniques including (where applicable) simulation, design for manufacture, design for test, reliability analysis and single fault
- Plan, defining and development of equipment and jigs to support verification and
- Create external facing documentation including test and build procedures and customer user
- Maintain existing product range through upgrades resulting from regulatory changes or customer requests, in accordance with change control
- Complete Non-Conforming Product (NCPs) or Corrective and Preventative Action investigations (CAPAs) as required by the Company's quality
- Support Operations through management of product transfer to manufacturing; project handover and ongoing technical support
- Supporting the implementation of best practice manufacturing techniques for one-off designs to high volume production, assembly processes and material
