Product Support Engineer (Mechanical)

Based in West Lothian, our client is an international market leader in high-end, high-value scientific instrumentation. Continued commercial success means their business is now seeking to hire a Product Support Engineer to complement the current team. The Product Support Engineer supports the Project Manager / Program Manager and conducts sustainability and product improvements tasks for existing products, new product development and bespoke customer developments.
In this role you will be supporting engineering change requests, providing technical support to the Production department, designing, and developing new products and systems and ensuring the performance and safety of products meet the specified requirements and standards.

Responsibilities:
- Support engineering change requests and implement design modifications to existing products.
- Create and modify engineering drawings, schematics and specifications.
- Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure that products meeting customer requirements.
- Research and evaluate new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes to improve product performance and cost efficiency.
- Develop and maintain project documentation including engineering reports, bills of materials and assembly instructions.
- Provide technical support to the Production department.
- Conduct testing and analysis to ensure product quality and reliability.
- Mechanical Engineering or near equivalent qualification (HNC or higher).
- Knowledge of Low volume/bespoke Product Support.
- DFM/DFA particularly in CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, optics handling.
- Assembly and piece part Modelling/Drafting using Solidworks
