Project Manager – 3-4 month contract with the potential to be extended up to 3 years
Salary: Negotiable, dependent on experience

About the opportunity
Our client is seeking a temporary Project Manager to oversee a window replacement contract with Moray Council for 3 to 4 months, with the potential to extend for up to 3 years. The Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating, supervising, and supporting 2 to 3 installation teams, as well as follow-on trades such as electricians and decorators, to ensure that all work is completed to quality standards and carried out safely. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining a comprehensive program, scheduling installations, supporting installation teams to meet daily targets and ensuring efficient use of labour, managing consumable materials, monitoring installation quality and safety, and attending client meetings. The Project Manager will receive support from the Director of Operations, Regional installation manager, and Manufacturing General Manager.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Working with the planning team to ensure a comprehensive ‘programme’ is developed, maintained and communicated on a weekly basis.
  • Working with the planning team to ensure installations are scheduled in line with the installation teams’ capacity.
  • Supporting the installation teams to ensure daily installation targets are met along with the programme. Team efficiency is measured by labour cost/product installed and this will be a Key Performance Indicator of this role.
  • Managing the issuing of consumable material, such as silicone, to ensure a budget per unit is achieved.
  • Utilising iAuditor software to monitor and manage installation quality, ensuring at least 1 Quality inspection is completed per day and constructive feedback is shared with all teams to enable cross-skilling and the maintenance of consistent standards across all teams.
  • Utilising iAuditor software to monitor and manage installation safety, ensuring at least 1 Safety inspection is completed per day and constructive feedback is shared with all teams to enable cross-skilling and the maintenance of consistent standards across all teams.
  • Utilising iAuditor software to carry out Installation Completion sign-off inspections. All installations are to be inspected on completion by the Project Manager and the timely completion (within 24 hours) of these inspections will be considered a Key Performance Indicator.
  • Ensuring daily feedback is provided to the Planning team advising on installation success and any run-ons. The reason for any run-ons will be evidenced each day, via a pro-forma, ensuring any variations caused by matters out with company control can be passed back to the Council for approval.
  • Ensuring any variations or additional chargeable works are identified and communicated to the company’s Quantity Surveyor in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Working with the Head of H&S to deliver routine H&S Training to all site teams.
  • Attending scheduled and ad-hoc client meetings as the key operational contact.
  • Attending daily Operations Meeting along with wider operations team who are managing other contracts to share performance and learnings.
  • Acting as a Primary point of contact for Moray Council Tenants, aiding the installation teams in gaining access, addressing concerns and ensuring customer safety and satisfaction is at the centre of our activities.

  • Excellent organisational and presentation skills.
  • NEBOSH Construction or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
  • SSMTS or equivalent construction management qualification.
  • CDM awareness and training.
  • Computer literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel.
  • Demonstrable commercial awareness and experience of budgetary management.

Training and Support
The Project Manager will be supported by the Director of Operations, the Regional installation Manager, and the Manufacturing General Manager. On-site training and support will be provided, followed by weekly site meetings with the Director of Operations or General Manager. The company uses iAuditor software to define and measure standards, with inspection forms for Quality, Safety, and final sign-off inspections. Inspectors are directed to assess each critical aspect of the job and are provided with a clear definition of 'what good looks like'. The inspection process will form a core part of the training and induction process.
