ESS Recruit’s client is a private sector economic development catalyst driving transformational change across the North East of Scotland. Their vision is to establish the North East of Scotland as a world leading seafood processing centre which is a modern, market focussed industry that is customer driven and agile in anticipating and responding to change. The focus will be on finding technology solution to increase productivity and ensuring the local industry has the competence and technical skills to find and apply solution across supply chain and manufacturing. The appointment of a Project Manager for the Seafood Transformation Project is one of the first steps in bringing this ambitious project to fruition.
Job description
The purpose of this role is to develop the relationships with and understanding of the seafood processing business and organisations in order to turn the Seafood Transformation project into practical actions. To develop and help deliver, with others, the programmes required to meet the needs of the ambitious businesses so they can invest and grow. Success will be businesses investing, improving efficiency and developing their markets, products and people, resulting in increased turnover, margins and quality jobs.

Commercially astute, with an in-depth knowledge of the Scottish seafood processing sector. A proven influencer with the ability to build strong relationships at senior levels, the candidate will have strong analytical and organisational skills.
This role will be based in Aberdeenshire. While focused on NE Scotland, there will be a need to travel elsewhere in Scotland from time to time. This is a full time position offering an attractive salary, pension scheme with a 10% employer contribution, private health care, and an annual leave entitlement of 25 days per annum, plus 8 public holidays.

Key Objectives Of the Role
- Proactively build and develop relationships with businesses within the Seafood processing sector to raise awareness and encourage participation in the STP activities/ programmes
- Deliver the objectives of the Seafood Transformation Project
- Work with businesses to encourage and scope investment and help them attract funding to support growth
- Work with Companies to help build their capabilities to support investment and growth – business skills, employee skills, market and product development, process and quality systems – including developing and delivering programmes to achieve these
- Assist the development of industry wide infrastructure projects required to help the industry grow, including the potential seafood park, supply chain collaborations, cold store/freezing capacity, energy and waste initiatives
- Assist with development and delivery of Networking events
- Support the Seafood Transformation Project Director in raising the profile of the sector to Governments, development organisations, private funders and the wider stakeholder community across Scotland and the UK
- Report to the Director and STP working group on project targets and milestones
- Represent Organisation STP at industry events
Required Skills and Qualifications

- Ideally degree qualified but not essential
- Business development, commercial or operations background, ideally gained in the seafood processing sector
- Ability to analyse the capability of a business and advise on options for growth and development
- Excellent project management skills – design, delivery and evaluation
- Proven ability to engage and build relationships with companies in the seafood sector
- Track record of delivery individually, and as part of a team
- Ability to work with a variety of partners and stakeholders
- Full driving license and access to a car insured for business purposes
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the desire to make a difference
