SENIOR R&D SCIENTIST– BIOTECHNOLOGY / LIFE SCIENCES / MEDICAL DEVICES OR PHARMACEUTICALS

Based in Edinburgh, ESS's client is a well-established bio-manufacturing organisation, with an internationally recognised product portfolio. The product range includes in vitro diagnostics and medical devices for use in clinical laboratories throughout the world. The organisation also offers contract services to the bioscience industry and currently manufactures products for major global players in the Life Sciences sectors.
They are recruiting for a Senior R&D Scientist to join their R&D Team, with the opportunity to work on a unique product in interesting fields of research. This role entails leading, coordinating, supervising and undertaking Design and Development projects in the R&D department. This will include recording, analysing and reaching valid conclusions for complex investigations in consultation with Team Leaders, enabling the completion of projects to the agreed timelines and the highest possible standards.

Responsibilities:
- Leading development studies and subsequently coordinating and undertaking work relating to specific Development projects.
- Analysing and interpreting complex data produced in studies and writing end of phase reports summarising all development work performed.
- Participating in commissioning and validation of new equipment.
- Preparing and reviewing formal documentation (e.g. SOPs) in consultation with the Team Leader.
- Ensure full Lifecycle documentation is maintained.
- Leading project teams for interdisciplinary/interdepartmental/collaborative projects to ensure projects progress efficiently and effectively.
- Actively maintaining an awareness of scientific and technical literature to ensure the development of innovative projects and products.
- Mentoring of development scientists and providing technical direction to junior staff.
